Failte! Welcome!
Lee County Pipes & Drums enthusiastically welcomes new members. We are always looking for people who are interested in Piping and Drumming, from the novice to the experienced player. We give instruction in the fundamentals of the music, asking only that individuals be willing to put in some time practicing on their own. And there is some expense for uniforms and instruments. Pipers start learning on the practice chanter, and after becoming proficient, and deciding whether or not they would like to continue, transfer their newly acquired skills to the Great Highland Bagpipes. From there, it’s only a matter of time until they are out on the street with us. As far as drummers are concerned, new people can learn the Side drum, which is similar to the snare drum in other marching bands; the Bass drum, or the Tenor drum. Side drummers begin by learning the Drum Rudiments on the practice pad. Our style of side drumming is Pipe Band Rudimental Drumming. Basic skills, once learned, may be transferred over to other modes of percussion.
Practice is held from 6:30 to 8:30 on Wednesday evenings throughout the year at North Fort Myers High School cafeteria. Stop by on a practice night, or click on the Contact the Band button on the left of this page for information on how to contact a band officer
